UPDATE: NVIDIA Shield TV Pro is now live on Amazon at a price of $199.
NVIDIA's Shield was most probably the best device running Android TV OS, and they have already built two models. After the success of the 2015 model and the refreshed 2017 one we are now waiting on them to launch the new 2019 Shield TV Pro. All the details and specs found on this new model have been leaked by Amazon, and below you can find all this info.
Unless you want to spend thousands of dollars on a new Sony TV, then you won't be able to experience a fast AndroidTV operating system, as all the "budget" or mid-range TVs running Android are struggling with Google's OS and you will have to limit the programs running in the background or deal with the system's inconsistencies. Or, you can choose to purchase an NVIDIA Shield console (microconsole?!) and experience Android TV as it properly should be experienced normally.
Since NVIDIA has already managed to build and release a console running Android TV that proved to be really popular, then we were already expecting them to launch a brand new model soon enough. The first Shield TV was launched in 2015 with a refreshed version being launched in 2017. Yesterday, Amazon has "managed" to leak the new Android TV console from NVIDIA which comes with a brand new bigger remote and a faster CPU.
The NVIDIA Shield TV Pro 2019 model will be packing a new Tegra X1+ processor with a maximum 25% faster performance when compared with the 2017 NVIDIA Shield X1 CPU. The internal storage of the 2019 Shield TV PRO will measure 16GB and its memory will measure 3GB RAM in size. The new Shield TV Pro should come with support for Plex Media Server, Chromecast, SmartThings hub and Google Assistant and Alexa. The Android TV OS will most probably be based on the Android 9 Pie version, though this remains to be confirmed.
The new 2019 NVIDIA Shield TV Pro will also come with support for Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos support for improved surround sound, better AI upscaling that should greatly improve HD content to 4K for TV's supporting it, two USB ports. The Shield TV Pro 2019 price listed on the now-defunct Amazon page was set at $199 along with October 28th set as its release date. We don't know exactly when the device will go back live with pre-order support, but keep an eye on this post, as we will update it accordingly in the coming days.
