MSI is working on bringing more gaming monitors for console users, as the new models are finally capable of reaching higher FPS at higher refresh rates and higher resolutions. The MEG551U gaming monitor will sport 4K UHD resolution, 55" inch screen and 120hz variable refresh rate capabilities.
The "monitor" looks more like a TV and it offers OLED 55-inch screen technology, 120hz variable refresh rate, 0.5ms realistic OLED response time, over90% DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR, HDMI 2.1 input, HDMI-VRR, Auto Low Latency Mode, low blue light, and support for both AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync technologies. There is no word on the maximum refresh rate supported by this monitor when paired with a gaming computer, but we expect the panel to go over 120hz even at 4K UHD resolution via DisplayPort input.
The panel that this monitor will sport is an LG OLED Display and it should offer the same performance as the usual screens LG has launched already. MSI wants to provide an excellent panel and high refresh rate gaming for all new users of the latest PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming consoles.
The monitor should be released later this year and we will post an updated article when such details are made known by MSI. Please note that there is no info on availability and pricing at this time.
