Best TVs for College Dorm Rooms in 2020

In this post you can find some of the best small TVs that you can buy for your college dorm room. All the TVs listed below are bringing excellent picture quality and enough functions and features that will greatly improve your life when you're not busy studying.

Leaving your home for college is not the easiest thing to do in order to easily get comfy in your new dorm room would be to install a new TV in it. I know that the first things you want to do when getting to college is to go out and make new friends, but what do you in your off time or when you're not that keen on studying that hard at first, and an answer to that would be to watch a couple of movies and TV shows, or to start playing a new video game. Also, using the TV as a tool to get new friends is probably the easiest and best way to do it, as you can find something that is popular and throw a small "cinema" party for your new friends to enjoy, or you can choose to play a popular video game and connect with other players in your campus.

Some of the models listed below should also offer great performance when using them for gaming. You can use any TV below with any gaming platform you like, as most of these are packing decent panels capable of offering good gaming performance on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. NOTE: if you prefer gaming on a PC, then you should try to purchase a TV whose refresh rate is over 100Hz and that offers the fastest response time possible. All the models we listed below can be mounted on walls, but you will need to purchase the proper wall mounting devices separately.

This TV has been launched this year, and the 43-inch model of the TCL S525 comes with a VA panel capable of displaying images at 4K UltraHD Resolution. It offers great contrast ratio, great colors in dark rooms, good blacks, and great response time which makes this TV great for gaming. The panel on this model is VA, which means that you might notice the not so great viewing angles on this model.

After you get this model you might want to tinker with the color settings in order to better calibrate it and get the best possible image color accuracy. Also, this model offers 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and Dolby Vision HDR support, too. Another great thing about it is that it comes with built-in Wi-Fi and you won't need an ethernet cable to attach to it in order to get connected to the internet. Also, the Smart TV features are coming from Roku which means that it should run great and offer access to more than enough streaming services.

This TV comes with the same 4K screen resolution as the 5 Series model above. It is also a great TV for gaming and, if you calibrate the colors then you will also get great performance when watching movies or TV shows.

The color accuracy and picture quality might not be like the ones on the TCL 5 Series, but it still does a decent job on offering a great TV experience. Also, you should know that this model support HDR10 content, but it doesn't offer Dolby Vision HDR. Some other features you will get with this model are 4K Creative Pro upscaling engine, 120 CMI refresh rate, and Roku TV that comes with tons of content to keep you entertained at any time.

This model is smaller in size and cheaper than the others presented in this post. It offers a somewhat lower performance when it comes to image quality, but you will still get enough out it due to it having an IPS panel that offers great viewing angles.

If you decide to buy this model, then we strongly recommend you to look for calibration guides, or you can do it yourself by tinkering with its color settings and options. After calibrating this TV you can get excellent picture quality and great performance out of this model.

43" 2019 Vizio M Series Quantum - 4K UltraHD

Vizio builds some of the best TVs out there, and the M Series Quantum 2019 model is nothing but great. It offers 4K UltraHD resolution on a VA panel, that is offering excellent color gamut, great contrast ratio, good response time and very low input lag. The design on this model is not bad at all, as it offers thing borders and bezels, and it is great for those that want to wall mount it.

The Vizio M Series Quantum 2019 model viewing angles are not that great, but in a small room this will not be an inconvenience. Also, we recommend you to calibrate the color settings first, even though the native ones are still great out-of-the-box, and you will get fantastic performance from this model.

Panel
VA
Refresh Rate
60 Hz
HDR
HDR10 HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) HDR10+
Screen Aspect Ratio
16:9
Screen Resolution
3840 x 2160

The Frame models by Samsung are more expensive than any other models listed in this post, but you will get excellent picture quality and a TV that looks great even when not used. Samsung is advertising this TV as "an work of art", but I wouldn't go as far as saying that as you will need to constantly keep it running when not watching anything for it to use the "frame" features.

However, if you afford it and you are constantly get visits from your in-campus friends, then this TV will greatly improve the room feel and aesthetics. The Art Mode feature allows the TV to display some of your favorite art selections every time someone walks into the room. A thing that I'm not a fan of, is that if you want to improve and get more art selections for your TV, then you will need to use Samsung's Art Store.
