If you wish to get the best possible image quality and smooth performance, then you should buy a 4K Smart TV.
All the models we presented below are available for purchase from Amazon. The devices are listed randomly and you can decide for yourself which one to buy.
65" Sony XBR-X900F 4K UHD
The Sony XBR65X900F is probably the best possible TV that you could buy at this price range. This TV is currently available for only $998, as it has just been listed for $500 less than the original price - if you wish to get an excellent TV for this price, then you should go for this model as it provides great 4K UltraHD HDR performance, fast Android OS performance and support for all media streaming apps you can think of due to it running Android OS.
The Sony X900F 65" model offers excellent black color performance, fantastic motion handling, low input lag and very bright HDR highlights. This TV is great for any type of media you wish to watch on it. Also, you can pair it with your gaming computer or gaming console and you will benefit of its excellent contrast ratio and very low input lag for a TV.
I know that this model was launched in 2018, but it offers way too many great features and excellent image performance in all types of media content for it not to be featured in this post.
NOTE: we don't know for how long will the $999 Sony X900F 65" deal last for, as this price was listing at the end of April 2020.
65" TCL R625 4K UHD QLED
The TCL 65R625 TV is another TV that offers great image performance for a price that doesn't go over $1000. This TV model is currently priced at $750 and this deal should last for the rest of the spring.
The TCL 65" Class 6-Series comes with QLED panel technology and it is LED backlit. The design used for this model is very minimalistic as it offers thin bezels and if you mount it on a wall, then you won't even notice them. The TV runs Android OS and it offers access to Roku TV obviously. For those that are looking to place it on a desk, then you should know that you will need to use a wide platform for it to stand on due to its long feet.
NOTE: if you decide to purchase the TCL 65R625, then we strongly recommend you to calibrate its colors after you get it set up, as the colors that it offers out-of-the-box aren't the best, but you will get excellent color performance after tinkering with its color settings.
65" VIZIO PQ65-F1 4K UHD
The Vizio PQ65-F1 is a 4K UltraHD HDR TV that is offering Quantum Dot panel technology and it comes with Active Full Array max, 192 Local Dimming Zones, UltraBright 2000, Dolby Vision HDR just like the above models, and low input lag for those that wish to connect it to a gaming PC/ console.
The style that Vizio PQ65-F1 comes with thin bezels and slim legs that will let the screen pop out when the TV is placed on a table. The stand is really stable and you won't see the TV wobbling when handling the TV connectivity ports. Note that the TV will require you to tinker with its colors, as the settings that the TV offers at first aren't that great, but you can fix it by tinkering with these as soon as you power it on.
This TV is currently available on Amazon for $989. The units sold are sold via Amazon Renewed Guarantee service. If you are looking for a TV with 65-inch Quantum Dot panel, then you should take a look at this Vizio model.
65" LG SM8600PUA 4K UHD
The LG SM8600PUA 65-inch TV is a more than good Smart TV that offers the LG a7 Gen2 Intelligent Image Processor, LG ThinQ AI, Alexa, and full support for Google Assistant. The panel on this model is also called NanoCell and it offers great color accuracy, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, and tons of other smaller features that should make it a great choice for those that wish to pay less than $800 for such device.
The design used for the LG SM8600 is following LG's guidelines as it comes with a wider leg when compared to the models listed above. The stand is ok, but you might see it wobbling a little bit more than you would expect from a TV this big. For those that are looking to purchase this model then we recommend you to wall mount it as the TV is VESA 300x300. Just like all the other TVs in this price range you also need to calibrate and tinker with its color settings in order to get better color accuracy. This TV is sold starting from $775, which is a more than decent price for a 65-inch TV with NanoCell panel.
If you're looking for a brighter LG TV, then we suggest you getting the LG UM7300PUA 65-inch model instead of the LG SM8600PUA model. Both TV's are similar in what they offer with the UM7300PUA being a little bit uglier than the SM8600 edition.
